How it works…

I meet my customers after they’ve already shopped retail options and had the ‘salon experience,’ as I don’t carry samples and it’s important to have a sense of how different cuts and silhouettes feel on the body. After our initial meeting I prepare sketches with swatches and together we edit down to a final working design and cost estimate.

To move forward I require a 50% deposit; all work and fittings take place at my studio in downtown Hoboken. From client measurements I create patterns and a toile (draft) in cotton or some other inexpensive fabric. Most of the fittings are with the toile; about 3-5 fittings should be expected and all alterations are included in the cost estimate for any made-to-measure piece. If our process includes diversions from the original design or material that could affect the cost, the estimate will be adjusted and reconfirmed.

The final fitting or try-on is scheduled about 1-2 weeks ahead of the wear date, after which I fully press, pack and seal the garment in an opaque bag ready for pick up. Balances are due by the time of pick up and I will reiterate any guidance or coaching that may have come up during our time together (posing with bouquet, walking with a train, bustling, emergency stain removal, lavatory tips, etc).

Limited commissioned work is taken on annually and a 6 month minimum lead time is strongly suggested.
